Odaily News Quantum-resistant cryptography specialist firm BTQ Technologies (BTQ) recently unveiled a solution to protect the Bitcoin blockchain: a permissionless fork testnet called “Bitcoin Quantum,” which is claimed to be capable of withstanding quantum challenges.

Chris Tam, Head of Partnerships at BTQ, stated that Bitcoin Quantum is a publicly operable network where miners, developers, researchers, and users can stress-test quantum-resistant transactions and reveal practical trade-offs before discussions about mainnet upgrades become urgent. The system includes a block explorer and mining pool, offering immediate accessibility.

Tam explained that in August 2024, the quantum-resistant algorithm commonly known as “Dilithium” (formally named the Module Lattice-based Digital Signature Algorithm, ML-DSA) was standardized in the U.S., and this is the technology adopted by the Bitcoin Quantum network. This algorithm has not been widely used in fast-moving fields like cryptocurrency, primarily due to high operational costs. Compared to the digital signatures used today for every blockchain transaction or even sending a WhatsApp message, quantum-resistant algorithms increase data size by at least 200 times. Coinbase May Withdraw Support for CLARITY Act Over Stablecoin Reward Ban

Banking groups are concerned that stablecoin rewards and yield products could siphon trillions of dollars from the traditional banking system. The GENIUS Act passed in July 2025 prohibited stablecoin issuers from offering interest or yields to holders but did not explicitly ban third parties like crypto exchanges from providing rewards. The banking industry is now attempting to close this loophole through the CLARITY Act. Stablecoins have become a major revenue source for Coinbase, contributing nearly $247 million in Q4 2024.
